Next year, every district will be connected to high speed internet

Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mostafa Jabbar has said that by 2023, the highest speed internet will reach every town of the country including remote, hilly areas, islands, chars, beels and haors. He said that in this way Digital Bangladesh will not only face the global challenges of the future, Bangladesh will lead the fourth-fifth industrial revolution. The Minister expressed his determination to join the virtual program organized on the occasion of the reunion of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, City University, Savar, Dhaka on Thursday (February 10). He called upon the university teachers to play a special role in imparting digital skills to the students along with the conventional education by utilizing the opportunities of strong and expanded digital infrastructure established in the country. The ceremony was presided over by Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Professor. Engineer Md. Humayun Kabir. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of City University, Member of Parliament Ahsanul Islam Titu, Chairman of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud and City University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Shah-e-Alam delivered their speeches on the occasion. Two fresher students also expressed their feelings. Speaking as the chief guest, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar said, "We have created digital infrastructure. Standing on this infrastructure, we will change our way of life and education. Apart from rebuilding the war-torn country, Kudrat-e Khuda Education Commission has been formed, technical education has been expanded, 26,000 primary schools have been nationalized, textbooks have been distributed free of cost, T&T board has been formed, ITU and UPU membership has been acquired and satellite land center have been set by Bangabandu as seeds of digitization. The concept of Digital Bangladesh had been being materialized by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina between 1996 and 2001. In the last 13 years, Bangladesh has set an example before the world in development activities. Referring to the new generation as highly talented, he said that if the newcomers are groomed properly, they will be surprisingly successful. Mentioning that Bangladesh has entered the digital age, Member of Parliament Ahsanul Islam Titu said that the role of education is immense in harnessing the talents of the new generation to accelerate the progress of Digital Bangladesh. He emphasized the need to prepare students for the prosperous Bangladesh of 2041.
